We pay close very attention to the females we use in our breeding program. We look very carefully at the milk production of the females as this is the most important piece of a calves upbringing with respect to producing a high marbling product. To accomplish this we refer back to the Japanese Wagyu approach of rotational breeding or rotating between sires, and dams that have high marbling characteristics, to high maternal genetics, to larger carcass weights.

Rosey traces her lineage to one of the original Wagyu born in the US. Fujiko, which is a very significant bloodline. Fjjiko’s mother, Okutani was one of the 3 original heifers brought to the US in the 1970’s. Her value is in that she is of the Doi and Nami bloodlines. Nami is famous for their more fine marbling than other Wagyu strains. Until recently upon her passing, Fujiko was the only living of these original heifers.
